Straight Wharf Fish Store makes list

I was reading yesterday somewhere that Playboy announced a America's Best Sandwiches list. First, I had no idea they had a list, and second, why do they have a list? Perhaps you can feed bunnies sandwiches. Either way, Straight Wharf Fish Store of Nantucket Massachusetts was on the list with their famous Lobster Roll!

Straight Wharf is one of those hidden places on Nantucket that you have to find while you're walking by, except you can't just walk by. It is hidden away, behind the Straight Wharf Restaurant; and it's just a little tiny real Nantucket store selling fresh caught fish and a couple other things, like sandwiches. There is no A/C. And they only take cash or local checks. There is only outside sitting area overlooking the wharf. I almost froze the other day, but the fresh fish sandwich warmed me up a little. You can also get the best swordfish sandwich in the world and the best crabcakes! So here's congrats to them for their hard work!

Icecream, oh give me icecream! Or any combination of a summer treat.

Rainy day, cloudy day, icecream makes me feel better. Nantucket homemade icecream at the Juice Bar, 12 Broad Street, (508) 228-5799 has the best icecream ever! I've never tried coconut icecream before but I had asked them for suggestions. So I settled on a coconut shake. I force my friends to go when on Nantucket. In the summer the line goes on and on and on. They serve it with a smile. You can try any flavor.

If you're on Straight Wharf I highly suggest checking out Nantucket Icecream @ Juice Guys, 44 Straight Wharf, (508) 228-4464. I love the Mango Mama smoothie. I can't ever get enough. It is located on Straight Wharf close to where the Hyline ferry docks. It's hidden away so you really have to look.

Celebrities and Nantucket!

Celebrities love to be seen. The gossip magazines don't like to keep them hidden. We don't like to keep them hidden. Actually when you spot one, the first instinct is to pull out the camera phone and click. Then there it goes into the world wide web for everyone to see. They must be used to the life in front of camera, the iphone, the blackberry some say, but I believe there are times they want to be left alone. Take Meg Ryan for example. Surely she didn't publicized it that she was on Nantucket a couple days ago. I didn't see E! or People around here,or any paparazzi following her but of course somebody spotter her and announced it. Surely twitter, facebook, or somebody's blog announced that she was here. Yes, some of us spotted her and some had to talk about it. I don't understand.

There are several well know people who summer and visit here, but rarely does any of the locals bother them for an autograph. We know that some of them do make it on TMZ when they least expect it. Read the truth here.

Please leave them alone at least while they're here, 30 miles away from all the glitz and glamour. And if you have an iphone or a blackberry or anything that has a camera please capture the beauty of this island and not every celebrity that comes here. This isn't Hollywood, or New York, or LA!

This is Nantucket people! For the love of celebrity, leave them alone!
